ISB posts a record in placements

Hyderabad: A total of 1,383 students of its Post Graduate Programme (PGP) got placement offers, the Indian Business School announced on Tuesday. This is a substantial increase from the 1,194 registered last year.

The average annual cost-to-company (CTC) for these students as `26.15 lakh, which the institute claimed was a 124 per cent increase from the offers before they joined ISB. As many as 231 companies, including 65 first-time recruiters, have made offers.
Nearly 22.75 per cent of the offers were made by the consulting sector. IT/ITES (14.93 per cent), e-commerce (11.30) and BFSI (11.23) and consulting made up for more than half of the offers.

Companies that came to ISB for recruitment include AT Kearney, Bain and Company, Boston Consulting Group, Dalberg, E&Y, KPMG, McKinsey & Company, Amazon, Blackbuck, Byju’s, Electronic Arts, Flipkart, Google, InMobi, Citibank, Credit Suisse, Estee Advisors, ICICI Bank, Matrix Partners, Coca-Cola, Colgate Palmolive, Godrej, HUL, L’Oreal, Nestle, Procter and Gamble and Samsung.

Dr Chandan Chowdhury, senior associate dean and head of placements at ISB, said that 884 of the total 890 students had opted for the placement process this year. Nearly 39 per cent of them were women.

The PGP class of 2020, at 39 per cent has the largest-ever representation of women. “A lot of stakeholders worked on making the placement process a success. The students worked hard on themselves, gaining both hard and soft learning. The faculty too was proactive in that it imparted a lot of learning both in and out of the classroom,” he said.

Dr Chowdhury said nearly 85 per cent of all students who opted for placement have landed up with a job.

“The rest of them won’t have to worry as they can be part of the rolling placement process. There is ample time,” he added. Mr Rachit Jain, a student who has been placed at Bain and Company, a consulting firm, echoed similar sentiments.

Head of the institute’s consulting club observed, “A lot of work went into the placement process, both by the students and us. In our time at the club, we interacted with a lot of consulting companies on an informal basis.
